Finding Freedom in Positive Affirmations

Posted by admin on January 26, 2015

I decided to make this video of Positive Affirmations for myself, when I was talking to a friend this week about all the negative self talk that can happen in my "idle brain time."  This typically doesn't happen when I'm just sitting around, no, instead it creeps up on me while I'm processing the laundry, doing dishes, showering, or while I'm running.  I can usually stop it in its tracks by listening to positive Podcasts, but what I realized is this:  I need to actually deal with the negative thoughts that are permeating in my mind.  I hadn't really dealt with the "tracks" or recordings that were playing over and over again.

For some reason, this made me think about the movie 50 First Dates with Adam Sandler and Drew Berrymore, for those of you who don't know it, don't continue on, watch it, then come back :-)  At the end she ends up watching a daily video to tell her who she is, and what she has done with her life.  It's really sweet.  I think this is a pretty cool idea, and I don't need an extreme situation like that to do this.  I need the reminder, so my brain will start to play a different recording.  It is time to take control and deal with the lies.  I am planning on incorporating this video into my daily routine, fighting back with truth!!

I hope this will inspire you to do the same.  You don't have to create a video-In the past, I heard of people doing it on 3x5 cards, or you could record an audio version on your phone.  I would say do whatever you will actually DO!!  Don't be a perfectionist about it.  I think this is very important-Just Do It :-)  I would love to hear how you do yours, and what you write about yourself!!
