Week Check In: School's IN!!

Posted by admin on September 3, 2014

Week Check In:  The kids are back in school.  I have officially had my first Pumpkin treat for the season.  And I have to get back into my routine!!

In my Weight Watchers meeting this week, our leader talked about this time of year being like a second January, and I have to say I agree.  There is something about September, and back to school that brings a sense of routine, and accomplishment after the loosey goosey summer schedule (which I love by the way).  I have to admit that I have a large TO DO list for "When school starts..."  However, with that being said, it may be a time of routine, but it is still a time of super busyness.  I am done with the thinking I used to have, where I would say, "When summer gets here, we'll do _________ (insert whatever I procrastinated about),"  "When the kids are out for the Holidays we'll _____________,"  etc.  THERE SIMPLY IS NOT A SLOW TIME IN OUR YEAR!!  I have lied to myself for years, and then wondered why I didn't accomplish what it was I set out to accomplish that year.  It was just another way of procrastinating.

Am I saying I won't procrastinate anymore?  No, I'm not perfect.  But I am going to start doing my best to get things that are important to me scheduled and on the calendar.  Otherwise, it will never get accomplished.

Anyways, I am late this week on putting up my weekly TO DO list, so here it is:

  • Finish Costco 20 Meal Challenge (I needed my avocados to ripen enough to cut).
  • LIVING ROOM!! clean and declutter (lots of project stuff is out, and goodwill give away items out on the floor)

Intellectual:  This week, yet again, this will be put on the back burner.  I am hoping to get going on my personal studies next week.  I have a few loose ends to tie up from summer (sounds like I'm procrastinating again, but it's true :-) ), so I should be able to add this back in next week.

Well, that's my week in a nut shell.  I have to say I am loving this format for my weekly TO DO list.  It helps me to remember that I have multiple categories in my life, not just one or two.  I can tend to just think about work, intellectual and finances, and completely miss out on anything relational.  This helps me to be more intentional in those areas and helps me remember things I would've forgotten otherwise.

Do you think this format would work for your TO DO list?  What do you have going on this week?  Are there categories in your life that you get stuck in?  Which ones do you forget.  Well, I hope you have a fabulous week!  I know even though it's halfway over already, I am looking forward to my week!!
